The Lathums

Seemingly out of nowhere, certainly from a place largely off the map, The Lathums’ skilled ways with prose-filled, indie-dancefloor bangers have found their way into people’s hearts and to the top of the British charts.

Their debut album, How Beautiful Life Can Be, arrived in September 2021 via Island Records to an ecstatic response from guitar music fans starved of new heroes and sat, happily, at Number One of the UK Official Album Chart a week later. Four friends from the fringes of Greater Manchester, whose only aims are to make music together and spread a sense of hope had gone much, much further.

Equated by critics to Arctic Monkeys, The Specials and The Smiths, The Lathums is a band that, finally, indie lovers have been able to put their faith in. The feelings of devotion, admiration and unbending loyalty that the band feels are returned in music that lifts the spirits and live performances that are communal expressions of joy. Their postponed, rearranged and upgraded tour dates for 2021 have included a 3,500-capacity sell-out ‘homecoming’ at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse alongside debuts at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues.  Each, beg-for-a-ticket live show has become a loud, celebratory, ceiling-dripping affairs, where new senses of belonging develop.
