The Farm
The Liverpool based band, who formed in the early eighties, were pioneers of the casual terrace styles that would come to dominate British street pop culture.
With a little help from their friends, the band were always on the cusp of a breakthrough. Originally championed by legendary DJ John Peel, they did 6 Peel sessions, Suggs from Madness produced their first single - the indie chart hit - Hearts & Minds in 1984 and the UK’s leading live promoter Simon Moran of SJM fame promoted them at his very first concert the same year at Sheffield University.
By rights in the 2020’s they have earned their comfy mid afternoon festival band slot playing their much loved hits forever but the Farm were always a much more interesting creative force than people assumed.
This collection of film makers, artists and cultural game changers may never have blown their own trumpets but were always scratching a creative itch. Last year the original songwriting team got back together and decided to write some new material. The band released ‘Feel The Love’ which got lots of play on Radio 1&6, and a ‘B’ Playlist before more festivals culminating in a triumphant set at a packed Leftfield Stage at Glastonbury 2024.
Like a Liverpool self deprecating take on the Pet Shop Boys or New Order, the unlikely lads have crafted a slice of sophisticated 21st-century pop and are ready to gatecrash the party once again.
