Abbie Ozard Returns With “Crocodile Tears”
On Friday 7th February Abbie Ozard returns with her first single since the release of her acclaimed Growing Pains EP, and is a clear line in the sand for an artist determined to build on the successes of 2019.
Produced and co-written with long term collaborator Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Courteeners, Vistas), Crocodile Tears is loaded with Abbie’s signature bittersweet take on coming of age topics. It has all the hallmarks of a classic Abbie Ozard song as she continues to truly make the sphere of sad-girl, indie pop her own.
This new release however shows a new side to Abbie. Whilst her soft, understated vocal continues to float beautifully, sonically this is her grittiest release to date. The cute synth and guitar work that has so well complimented her vocals in the past has been exchanged for an indomitable, more resolute approach, as a new colour to the Rubik’s Cube of Abbie Ozard is revealed. If there’s one thing you can credit Abbie for, it’s her ability to always identify the perfect soundtrack to amplify and embroider the emotions embedded inside of her lyrics. According to Abbie:
“Crocodile Tears delves into the realms of someone who continues to pretend to cry when you know that they’re not really bothered at all. The song explores a girl at peak frustration levels, her head as messy and as confused as ever.”
