The Slow Readers Club

2018 was a massive year for The Slow Readers Club. Their album “Build A Tower” landed straight into the Official UK album chart Top 20, gaining extensive radio support from the likes of 6Music and Radio X. Closing the year, the band played three huge headline shows at London’s Scala, Glasgow’s School Of Art and a triumphant hometown show at Manchester’s 3500 capacity, O2 Apollo… all of them sold out.  Get on the video below of their homecoming show to see the band in all their glory.

However, resting on their laurels isn’t The Slow Readers Club way. 2019 sees the band currently on the road in the middle of a mammoth 32 date UK tour, ending in an epic finale in Manchester’s intimate Gorilla venue, which sold out in a matter of minutes.

The band have also been announced for a number of UK festival Shows including a main stage appearance at Neighbourhood Weekender in Victoria Park, Warrington on May 26th alongside their fellow Northern contemporaries Richard Ashcroft and The Charlatans.

But more excitingly for The Readers is prospect of their first ever European headline tour. The band have 15 dates across Europe before they hit Madrid in July for Mad Cool Festival. “We’ve had plenty of fans making contact asking us to play all over Europe, so it’s great to finally be able to do so,” says singer Aaron Starkie. “We had a great response at a few European festivals last year (Reeperbahn, Kaltern pop and Haldern pop) so we’re looking forward to getting back out there to build on that”.

Following their Summer festival slots the band will close out the year with a string of December shows, including two massive hometown gigs at O2 Ritz Manchester.

The latest release from The Slow Readers Club is their single ‘Lunatics’ from their energy-filled live show at the O2 Apollo.

“The next northern pop powerhouse… with hints of The XX, Depeche Mode, The Maccabees and Alt-J. WRIT LARGE” – NME
